VOLUNTEER ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:
Community Services Volunteer I

GOAL/PURPOSE:
To assist Sweet Home Police Department employees with various Community Policing tasks as needed and in the Sweet Home community if necessary.

SUPERVISION:
Community Services Officer/Sergeants

TIME COMMITMENT:
Determined through coordination with other enforcement volunteers.
Hours vary based upon tasks performed, Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday duties

DUTIES:

  • Transport radar trailer to designated locations throughout the city
  • Assist with traffic control during events
  • Assist the Community Services Officer with Sweet Home Police Department events
  • General office duties
  • Phone calling as needed
  • Assist with Dog Kennel as needed
  • Assist with Speed Monitoring of traffic
  • Assist with errands as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful completion of a background criminal history/check
  • Equivalent to a high school diploma
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a team environment
  • Experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above duties
  • Familiar with Microsoft computer usage desirable
  • Previous website experience, if applicable
  • Valid Oregon Driver’s License

TRAINING:

  • In house training for familiarization with City’s intranet
  • Sweet Home Police Department Basic fundamental volunteer training and familiarization
  • In house equipment usage training
  • In house task-specific instructional training
  • Successful completion of Food Handler’s License
