PRESS RELEASE - City Council of Sweet Home Appoints New City Manager in Dual Role
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 12, 2024
CITY COUNCIL OF SWEET HOME APPOINTS NEW CITY MANAGER IN DUAL ROLE
The City of Sweet Home is pleased to announce City Council's selection of Jason Ogden, current Sweet Home Police Chief, as City Manager by unanimous vote during the City Council meeting on March 11, 2025. Chief Ogden’s term in this dual City Manager/Police Chief role will begin effective March 12, 2025. He has served the City of Sweet Home through several law enforcement roles of increasing responsibility for nearly 30 years, including his most recent appointment to Police Chief in 2022. He also served as City Manager Pro Tem from August 2024 to February 2025.
Chief Ogden’s priorities include ensuring execution of maintenance and upgrades to citywide facilities; supporting the development of a capital improvement program based on the City’s multiple infrastructure-based Master Plans; bringing process improvements to the City through the use of upgraded technology; and enhancing economic development through local, State, and Federal partnerships.
Chief Ogden shared: “I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue serving Sweet Home in this new capacity. This community has meant so much to me since the start of my career, and I look forward to working with our staff, Council, and residents to ensure we keep moving forward together.”
Mayor Susan Coleman spoke of yesterday’s vote, saying: “I am so pleased the Council was unified in its vote to hire Jason Ogden as Sweet Home’s next City Manager. In his years working for the City in other roles, he has shown his deep commitment and dedication to our community. And I am confident he will lead our incredible staff and City well.”
