Fine Payment Policy
Fines are due and payable in full upon conviction. The term "fines" refer to any Court monetary obligation, including fines, fees, costs, and assessments. If unable to pay in full upon conviction, the Court may allow monthly payments as set forth below:
A. Pay your fines within 30-60 days. You must present a fully completed and signed Check-In Sheet to the Court Clerk. The $35 installment fee will be waived.
B. Pay your fines in monthly payments of not less than $35 per month. An installment fee of $35 will be added to the total amount due. You must comply with all terms set by the Judge. Monthly payments are due by the 10th of each month.
C. Failure to pay your monthly payment by the due date will result in a $25 late fee imposed on your account for payments made after the 10th of the month. The remaining balance of your fine(s) will become immediately due and payable and suspension of your Oregon driver's license may occur, if the fines arose from a traffic offense.
In addition, action may be taken against you for Contempt of Court: Failure to Comply (non-payment of fine) and a Warrant for your arrest may be issued. Upon conviction, the maximum penalty for this charge is a fine of $500, and one day in jail for every $25 in outstanding fines (up to 30 days), or both, on each matter for which a fine has been imposed.
Conviction for Contempt does NOT relieve you of your obligation to pay the fine. Any judgment in default of payment will be assigned to a collection agency and/or the Dept. of Revenue for collection. Once a judgment is assigned to a collection agency and the Dept. of Revenue, the Court shall take no action to reinstate a suspended driver's license until all judgments are settled with the collection agency and/or the Dept. of Revenue. This will require a minimum payment of half the total amount owed to this Court, along with a payment agreement made with the collection agency for the full remaining balance.
The following fees for Court action shall be added to the outstanding balance of fines:
INSTALLMENT FEE | $35.00 |
LATE PAYMENT FEE | $25.00 |
SUSPENSION FEE | $15.00 |
DISMISSAL FEE | SUBJECT TO CLASSIFICATION |
DEFERRAL EXTENSION FEE | SUBJECT TO CLASSIFICATION |
SHOW CAUSE FEE | $50.00 |
WARRANT FEE | $100.00 - $200.00 |
PROBATION FEE | $100 |
NON-SUFFICIENT FUNDS CHECK FEE | $35.00 (warrant if not covered within 10 days after notice) |
Any fines and fees owed to the Court MUST be paid in full within the Probationary/Deferral time or an additional fee will be imposed on your account.
