SALEM, Oregon – The Oregon House of Representatives has passed House Bill 5005 and House Bill 5030, legislation providing funding for the Linn County Courthouse and funds for rehabilitating the City of Sweet Home’s Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Rep. Sherrie Sprenger (R-Scio) was pleased to see much needed projects affecting her constituents receive funding. Occasionally, the State of Oregon assists counties with courthouse renovations. Within HB 5005, $16,180,000 has been allocated to Linn County Courthouse for its needs.
Sweet Home is in the initial phases of a significant wastewater treatment facility overhaul. Due to the age and increased volume of what is received into Sweet Home’s wastewater treatment plant, Sweet Home needs a new facility. The project will cost the city an estimated $28,200,000. As well as pursuing grants and low-interest rate loans, in 2017, the city proactively raised their rates. Representative Sprenger is grateful that the state can assist Sweet Home with a project of this magnitude.
The bills now await action from the Senate.
