Violations Bureau
Are you interested in receiving a possible fine reduction or traffic school without having to appear before a Judge? If so, our Violations Bureau may be an option for you.
Any individual who receives a citation for a traffic ticket may appear at the Court's Violation Bureau at any time prior to the scheduled Court date.
Per ORS 153.800 and Municipal Court Orders 08-01 and 08-10, Sweet Home Municipal Court Clerks have been appointed by the Presiding Judge to serve as Violations Bureau Clerks.
The Court has in place a Violations Bureau giving the Clerks the authority to take a plea on traffic violation cases and assess a fine based on a schedule set by the Court. The Court also, if certain criterion is met, allows traffic school or deferred adjudication in lieu of conviction.
The Violations Bureau Clerk cannot take into account any extenuating circumstances or explanations for the citation. Defendants wishing to offer an explanation or provide evidence of mitigating circumstances related to the issuance of the citation must appear before a Judge.
