Sweet Home WWTP Bacterial Testing Returns to DEQ Compliance

SWEET HOME, Ore. August 18, 2022 — The City of Sweet Home management reports the Sweet Home Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) bacterial testing has returned to DEQ Compliance.

Every week on Tuesdays & Wednesdays, our WWTP Operators collect samples for the required 24-hour DEQ testing, which includes E. coli. The results are read on Wednesdays & Thursdays. Last Thursday, August 11th, our E. coli results were acceptable. However, at approximately 12:30 pm on August 17th, our test results indicated the E. coli test levels were elevated. At that time we began notifying DEQ, OHA, other agencies and issued a press release to the public in the late afternoon. Today at 11:30 am, we reviewed the August 17th samples. The results show the system is back within DEQ compliance with E. coli levels at 133.4 MPN, much lower than the acceptable daily limit of 406 MPN.
