Sweet Home WWTP Bacteria Levels Exceed Permitted Level
SWEET HOME, Ore. August 24, 2022 — Today's test results revealed E. coli bacteria levels exceed the permitted level of 406 MPN. The waterway affected is immediately downstream of the Pleasant Valley boat ramp. Therefore, staff recommends avoiding swimming or wading in that immediate area. In addition, signs are posted warning the community of the water quality advisory.
Under direction from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) the WWTP team will test samples every 4 hours during the next 24 hours. Additionally, they continue to make corrective measures to mitigate the issue.
