A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE "REGIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE 1998-2001 STATE TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM" AS DEVELOPED BY THE OREGON CASCADES WEST COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS' TRANSPORTATION PLANNING ADVISORY COMMITTEE.

THE CITY OF SWEET HOME RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

WHEREAS, the City of Sweet Home has reviewed the Oregon cascades West Council of Governments' statement, presented to the Oregon Department of Transportation, Region 2, regarding the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP); and

WHEREAS, the statement reaffirms the consensus of local jurisdictions that two projects in the current STIP, the Highway 20 Eddyville-Cline Hill project and the Pacific Boulevard-9th Street Couplet project in Albany, should move forward to construction in 1997; and

WHEREAS, the statement represents a consensus of local jurisdictions concerning the importance of including the following projects in the 1998-2001 State Transportation Improvement Program

US Hwy 20: Pioneer Mountain-Eddyville
Willamette River Bridge: (VanBuren) Replacement (Corvallis)
OR Hwy 34: I-5 to Main Street (Lebanon)
US Hwy 20-US Hwy 101: Intersection Realignment (Newport)
US Hwy 20: OR Hwy 34 to Newton Creek (Philomath)
US Hwy 101: Lincoln City Gaps
US Hwy 20: Neer Street (Corvallis) to 19th Street (Philomath)
US Hwy 20: Albany to Corvallis
OR Hwy 228: Halsey to Brownsville
Regional Transportation Demand Management Project
Inter-City Transit Feasibility Study; and

WHEREAS, the statement represents a consensus of local jurisdictions concerning the importance of developing a full range of transportation alternatives, it supports the goal of a strong multi-modal system and encourages the inclusion of aeronautics, rail freight, high-speed rail, transit and transportation demand management projects that are within the Cascades West region;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Sweet Home hereby approves and endorses the statement and authorizes staff and elected officials to actively pursue incorporation of the projects in the STIP as listed.
