A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE OREGON JAMBOREE, PARK CLOSURES, STREET CLOSURES AND RESTRICTIONS.
WHEREAS, on August 1 st, August 2nd, August 3rd, and August 4th, 2024, the Oregon Jamboree will hold a concert requiring street and park closures; and
WHEREAS, traffic patterns and parking issues need to be addressed to accommodate the events; and
WHEREAS, Sweet Home Municipal Code 10.04.030 provides that the City Council may, by resolution, establish or alter traffic and parking control;
WHEREAS, Sweet Home Municipal Code 12.12.010 and Sweet Home Charter Section 2 provide that the City Manager can limit park use.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Sweet Home does resolve as follows:
Traffic and park regulations shall be kept in effect as follows:
A. From 7:00 AM Thursday, August 1, 2024, to 9:00 PM, Sunday, August 5, 2024, barricade is located on Kalmia Street just past 14th Avenue. Unmanned closure; open to local traffic only.
B. From 7:00 AM Thursday, August 1, 2024, to 9:00 PM, Sunday, August 5, 2024, barricades located on 14th Avenue at Kalmia Street and Hawthorne Street and just past the entrance to Camp 1. Pass Required; Resident, Sankey Vendor/Sponsor & Volunteer Parking.
C. From 7:00 AM Thursday, August 1, 2024, to 9:00 PM, Sunday, August 5, 2024, barricade located on 18th Avenue and Long Street. Pass Required: Resident, Vendor/Sponsor, Handicapped, Tent A, Christian Church ADA and Sunday Parking.
D. From 7:00 AM Thursday, August 1, 2024, to 9:00 PM, Sunday, August 5, 2024, barricade located on Ames Creek Road between the Boys an_d Girls Club and Grape Street. Pass Required: Resident, Backstage, and Boys & Girls Club and Community Center Parking.
E. From 7:00 AM Thursday, August 1, 2024, to 9:00 PM, Sunday, August 5, 2024, barricade located at Ames Creek Road and Mountain View Road. Unmanned closure, open to local traffic only.
F. From 7:00 AM Thursday, August 1, 2024, to 9:00 PM, Sunday, August 5, 2024, barricades located on 18th Avenue, north of the main gates and bus garage and south of the entrance to shuttle staging. Road Closed.
G. From 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 1, 2024, through 10:00 AM on Monday, August 5, 2024, City Hall and Strawberry Park shall be available and utilized for RV and tent camp sites; and Upper Sankey Park and Quarry Park shall be available and utilized for RV camp sites for the Oregon Jamboree event.
H. From 6:00 AM Monday, July 29, 2024, to 10:00 PM Monday, August 5, 2024 Sankey Park and Weddle Bridge will be closed to the public to provide security and eliminate potential safety hazards.
I. From 4:00 PM on Thursday, July 28, 2022 through 10:00 PM on Sunday, July 31, 2022, SHMC 12.12.100 shall be waived for Sankey Park only. SHMC 12.12.100 limits the sale, consumption, or possession of alcoholic beverages in parks.
J. From 4:00 PM on Thursday, July 28, 2022 through 10:00 PM on Sunday, July 31, 2021, SHMC 9.20.030, Consumption or Possession of Alcoholic Beverages in Public Places, shall be waived for the area of 18th Avenue immediately adjacent to the concert grounds.
K. Appropriate and authorized fencing, signs, barricades or other markings which shall be installed by the Oregon Jamboree, at their own cost, to carry out the provisions of this resolution, and they shall become effective upon their installation pursuant to this resolution.
PASSED by the Council and approved by the Mayor this 9th day of April, 2024.
