Council Elections

There are four City of Sweet Home City Council terms expiring December 31, 2024, and all four positions are open to candidates interested and qualified to run for City Council. City Council positions are non-partisan. The following four City Council terms expire 12/31/2024:

Per City Charter and per Sweet Home Municipal Code (SHMC), any qualified elector (registered voter) who has resided within the City at least one year immediately before the election, may be nominated for City Council. The election will be held on November 5, 2024, and the three candidates with the highest number of votes will be elected to four-year terms and the candidate receiving the fourth highest number of votes will be elected to a two-year term. City Hall (3225 Main Street) is a ballot drop location for Linn County.

Each Councilor, before entering upon the duties of office, shall take an oath that they will support the constitution and laws of the United States, the constitution and laws of the State of Oregon, the Charter and laws of the City of Sweet Home, and that they will faithfully perform the duties of office.
