A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE FORMATION OF THE SWEET HOME FIRE AND AMBULANCE DISTRICT AND THE DISSOLUTION OF THE SWEET HOME AMBULANCE DISTRICT.

WHEREAS, the City of Sweet Home, the Sweet Home Ambulance District and the Sweet Home Rural Fire Protection District agree that in order to provide improved and expanded fire protection services to residents in the greater Sweet Home area, a new fire protection district should be formed; and

WHEREAS, the City of Sweet Home, the Sweet Home Ambulance District and the Sweet Home Rural Fire Protection District agree that if a new district is formed, the existing Sweet Home Ambulance District and the Sweet Home Rural Fire Protection District should be dissolved and succeeded by the new district; and

WHEREAS, the City of Sweet Home wishes to have the land within the boundaries of the City of Sweet Home included in the Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Sweet Home that:

Section 1. Dissolution of Sweet Home Ambulance District. The City Council supports the dissolution of the Sweet Home Ambulance District in accordance with dissolution procedures set forth in ORS 198.920 and recommends the Linn County Commissioners submit the issue to voters within the district boundaries concurrently with a measure to create a new district, the Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District, for consideration at the November 2000 General Election.

Section 2. Formation of the Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District. The City Council supports the formation of the Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District and establishment of a permanent tax rate for the new district in the amount of $1.50 per $1000 of assessed value and recommends the Linn County Commissioners submit the issue to voters within the proposed district boundaries for consideration at the November 2000 General Election.

Section 3. City Inclusion in Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District. In accordance with ORS 198.866 (1) the City proposes to be included in the Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District for the purpose of receiving fire protection, ambulance and related services from the District as set forth in the enclosed petition for formation of the Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District and the dissolution of the Sweet Home Rural Fire Protection District and the Sweet Home Ambulance District in the event voters approve all the measures to create the new district and dissolve the two existing districts.

IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager shall certify a copy of this resolution to the governing bodies of the Sweet Home Rural Fire Protection District, the Sweet Home Ambulance District and the Linn County Board of Commissioners.

IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution shall be forwarded to the Linn County Board of Commissioners and the Districts for further action prior to the November 2000 General Election.
