A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE CITY OF SWEET HOME'S DECISION TO BE CONSIDERED FOR SITING OF A DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY STANDARDS AND TRAINING (DPSST) PUBLIC SAFETY ACADEMY.

WHEREAS, the City Council of Sweet Home has been contacted by the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) requesting a resolution of interest and site identification for a Public Safety Academy Facility to potentially be located in Sweet Home; and

WHEREAS, the City of Sweet Home has a significant need for economic recovery from the decline of the Timber Industry and the resultant loss of many family wage jobs over the past few years; and

WHEREAS, based on the information provided by the Department of Public Safety Standards (DPSST), the siting of a Public Safety Academy facility could significantly add to and improve the economy of the City of Sweet Home; and

WHEREAS, the City of Sweet Home in cooperation with a private landowner has a site meeting the criteria in the attached; and

WHEREAS, the City of Sweet Home continues to support other economic activities in the City including the Wilderness Village Project.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council, as the deemed elected representatives of the citizens of Sweet Home, that they are interested in being considered for siting the above referenced facility in Sweet Home at this time.

PASSED by the City Council and approved by the Mayor this 22nd day of August 2000.
