City of Sweet Home Downtown Median Tree Project Update
SWEET HOME, Ore. December 31, 2019 — The City of Sweet Home Public Works Department began the Downtown Median Tree Project on December 30. They are removing and replacing five downtown median street trees due to leaning or outgrowing the median planters. The Public Works Department has removed four trees. The final tree has an electrical line running through the canopy which requires our team to work alongside Pacific Power to complete the removal. The extraction of the root systems will take longer than originally anticipated because they are more extensive and intertwined with irrigation and power supplies. Main Street, between 12th Avenue and 18th Avenue, will be restricted to a single lane in both directions while Public Works Staff are present and working.
The Park & Tree Committee will be determining the best tree species to enhance our downtown corridor.
