Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update - 7
SWEET HOME, Ore. March 16, 2020, 5:45 p.m.— The City of Sweet Home continues to monitor the latest information surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time of this press release the number of Linn County COVID-19 cases is 10. There are still no confirmed cases in Sweet Home.
Governor Kate Brown today announced new measures to flatten the curve of COVID-19 transmission in Oregon. They are as follows:
- A statewide cancelation of all events and gatherings larger than 25 people
- Exemptions for essential locations i.e. workplaces, grocery stores, pharmacies, and retail stores.
- Additionally recommended that Oregonians avoid gatherings of 10 people or more
- Restaurants, bars, and other establishments that offer food or beverages for sale are restricted to carry-out and delivery only with no on-site consumption permitted.
- Food service at health care facilities, workplaces, and other essential facilities will continue.
- All other businesses are urged to assess their practices, implement strong social distancing measures, and close their doors temporarily if they cannot put the new guidance in place.
CITY FUNCTIONS:
Library: CLOSED until further notice. Due to the limited space in our facility, our patrons & staff can not practice recommended, "social distancing." Further, the dominant user groups of the facility tend to be the most susceptible to these types of illnesses. Library patrons can access books online through Library2Go. All due dates have been extended. Dates for items on hold have also be extended.
City Parks: OPEN normal hours.
Public Works: Fully operational but CLOSED to the public.
City Hall: OPEN normal business hours. Passport applications will not be accepted until further notice.
Municipal Courts: Proceedings will be canceled until April 30th, 2020. Payments may be made via the counter, phone (541) 367-4660 or online.
Police: OPEN normal business hours. We have suspended public fingerprinting and request people to limit their visit to the lobby to emergency situations.
We do not anticipate making another update until Tuesday, March 17th, barring any major changes. If we learn of any important local information, we will update as needed.
