The road over Foster Dam will be closed on Tuesday, May 19th, 2020 from 7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. in order to install the fish weir. The weir is being installed to aid in upstream adult fish collection at the Foster Adult Fish Facility. Although the new fish weir did not improve downstream migrating juvenile salmon and steelhead survival and was not used this year for downstream fish passage, fish biologists found a benefit to operating the weir during summer months. Without the weir, the river below Foster Dam remains cold during summer months and the cold water acts as a deterrent for upstream migrating fish. With the weir in place, warm water from the surface of the reservoir passes over the dam, which warms up the river. As a result, adult fish migration back to the fish facility is not delayed. The Corps plans to operate the fish weir during June and July for adult fish returns. This operation will not affect Foster reservoir levels.

The road over Foster Dam will be closed from 2 pm - 4 pm today, November 20, 2018, in order to perform an emergency operation. The floating boom that keeps boats and debris out of the spillway area broke off its anchor and got sucked through one of the spillway gates. A crane is being used to pull the boom back up.
Sincerely,
