Sweet Home to Host 15th Annual Harvest Festival

The 15th Annual Harvest Festival will be held Saturday, October 2nd, at Sankey Park.
SWEET HOME, Ore. - The 15th Annual Harvest Festival sponsored by Real Estate Groups of Sweet Home: Apple Tree Real Estate of HomeSmart Realty Group & Gregory Home Team of Keller Williams Realty is Saturday, October 2nd in Sweet Home. This family event is from 11am to 6pm at Sankey Park where there will be free children’s games, face painting, wagon rides, and pumpkin painting. There will also be over 80 vendors with crafts & food items for sale. We will once again have the ever popular Pie Bake-Off & Chili Cook-Off events. Jobe Woosley & Dustin Foxx will be the musical acts for the day.
The Pie Bake-Off sponsored by East Linn Property Management has three divisions: Amateur Youth (17 and under), Amateur Adult (18 and over) and Professional (all ages) with two categories of pies: Fruit (e.g. berry, apple, cherry, etc.) and Other (e.g. pecan or pumpkin.)
This year's Chili Cook-Off will once again be ran by the charitable organization the Road Maggots. Each participating team is required to make at least five gallons of chili due to the higher than expected response to last year's event. Admission will be $5 per person or $10 per family (limit 6 people per family). A ticket will be provided as proof of purchase for general admission. Purchasers will use their entry ticket as a ‘voting ticket’ for the People’s Choice Award. The ticket sale profits will go towards Rialee Roth's fight against Hotchkins lymphoma.
There will be craft vendors lining Weddle Bridge with the majority of vendors scattered through Sankey Park. This will give the community an opportunity to see all the great work that has been done in the park.
“We are excited to continue this great family event which our predecessors had the vision to create 15 years ago.” said Angela Clegg, organizer of the Harvest Festival. "We are able to grow this event by having great sponsors like Apple Tree Real Estate of HomeSmart Realty Group & Gregory Home Team of Keller Williams Realty, many community partners, volunteers and great city staff.” Potential volunteers can reach Angela at 541-367-8113 or aclegg@sweethomeor.gov
The KidZone ran by our library staff will have many children’s games, Apple Tree Real Estate's petting zoo crafts with Gregory Home Team, pumpkin painting sponsored by Wendi Melcher with Heritage NW, face painting and movie characters greeting the children.
Harvest Festival parking will be available at Sweet Home High School parking lot, Sweet Home Evangelical Church and the public parking lot at 1141 12th Avenue.
All staff, volunteers and attendees will be required to follow current health requirements.
