Sweet Home City Council Announce City Manager Finalists
Two Candidates Top the List
PRESS RELEASE- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SWEET HOME, Ore, August 1, 2022 - The Sweet Home City Council has selected two exceptionally qualified candidates for the City Manager position. The community is invited to meet the selectees at 6:00 pm on August 10th in the Council Chambers at the Sweet Home City Hall at 3225 Main Street. BLAIR LARSEN grew up in the Washington, DC area and lived in several other states before settling in rural Oregon. He currently serves as Community and Economic Development Director for the City of Sweet Home, a position he has held since 2019. Previously, he served as City Manager for the City of Stanfield, Oregon, from 2013 to 2019. Prior to that position, he was a Budget Analyst for Broward County (Ft. Lauderdale Area), Florida, from 2010to 2013.
Blair holds Juris Doctor, Master of Public Administration degrees, and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Russian and Media Arts Studies from Brigham Young University.
KELCEY YOUNG is a dedicated public servant who genuinely loves serving communities. She has a strong background in Finance, Public Works, Community Development, and Grants Management and is ready to hit the ground running to serve the citizens of Sweet Home, OR, as best she can. She is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Scrum Master and has a background in creating efficiencies to do more with less, support her team, and come up with innovative ways to save money and improve processes.
Kelcey also has a strong commitment to economic development and has worked with multiple developers on housing projects and retail developments, as well as partnered with school districts, military bases, and non-profits to develop projects for the community. Graduating from Humboldt University for her Bachelor’s Degree and attending Humboldt again for Graduate School gave her a strong background in leadership, placemaking and a love of smaller communities and nature. She has two sons and two dogs, loves to kayak and fish, and would be honored and humbled to be the next City Manager of Sweet Home.
