Sweet Home Police Department Investigates Shooting

SWEET HOME, Ore. December 18, 2019 — On 12/18/19 at approximately 1:39 a.m., the Sweet Home Police Department received a report that that a female had shot her husband in his sleep. The incident occurred at 1370 Clark Mill Road, Sweet Home, Linn County, Oregon. 
Sweet Home Police Officers responded to the scene and located Mary K. Rochefort, 62 years of age, returning to the residence in a vehicle. Officers also located a 59-year-old male subject suffering from a gunshot wound inside the residence. The male was conscious and alert and was eventually transported to a local area hospital by members of the Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District. It was later learned that the injuries sustained by the male were not considered life threatening. 

Based upon the investigation there is no information indicating an ongoing threat to the public.

Mary Katherine Rochefort, 62 years of age, from Sweet Home was arrested for Assault I, Assault II, Assault IV and the Unlawful Use of a Firearm. She will be lodged at the Linn County Jail.
