Sweet Home Police Respond to Fatal Fire - 3
SWEET HOME, Ore. April 29, 2020 3:05 p.m. — Investigators from the Oregon State Police Arson Unit, the Oregon State Fire Marshal's office, the Linn County Medical Examiner's office, the Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District, the Sweet Home Police Department and detectives from the Linn County Major Crimes Team continue to work at the scene of a fire that took place on Tuesday, April 28th.
The Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District and the Sweet Home Police Department responded to a house fire at 1530 Tamarack Street in Sweet Home on Tuesday, April 28th, just before 7:00 am. The residential structure was engulfed with fire upon their arrival. When rescue personnel entered the home, they discovered four victims.
At this time, the identities of the deceased will not be released until they are positively identified. The autopsies are scheduled to take place tomorrow, April 30th. The preliminary efforts of local investigation teams found trauma to the victims that is not consistent with a fire. Sweet Home Police then called additional agencies for assistance in the investigation. We are not seeking any other individuals in connection with this incident. There is no evidence suggesting the community is at any additional risk.
For the sake of family and friends of the victims, we ask people to refrain from making public speculation regarding the circumstances of the event. We will make more information available as the investigation team confirms it.
Anyone with information associated with this event is encouraged to contact Sweet Home Police Detective Keenan Martin at 541-367-5181.
There will be no further information on this incident until a fourth news release tomorrow, Thursday, April 30th, 2020.
