Sweet Home Police Respond to Vehicle vs Pedestrian Fatality

SWEET HOME, Ore. June 5, 2020 2:05 p.m.— On Friday, June 5, 2020, at approximately 10:04 a.m., the Sweet Home Police Department and the Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash in the area of 12th Avenue & Hawthorne Street. When emergency responders arrived, they found that a female child, 2 years of age, had been struck by a pickup.

Sweet Home Medics transported the child to the Lebanon Community Hospital, where she was, unfortunately, pronounced deceased.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the incident is fully and willfully cooperating with the investigation.

The names of those involved are not being released at this time to be respectful of the families.

Members of the Linn County Major Accident Investigation Team, which consists of the Oregon State Police, the Linn County Sheriff's Office, the Lebanon Police Department, and the Albany Police Department responded to assist with the investigation. 

The Sweet Home Police Department and the entire City would like to offer our thoughts and prayers during this tragic time.

The incident remains under investigation. More information will be made available as the investigation progresses.
